Daniel Negreanu is a professional poker player who was born in Toronto, Canada on July 26, 1974. His Romanian parents, Annie and Constantin, emigrated from Romania’s old Communist regime in 1967, with the aim of beginning a new life in the US. They settled instead in Toronto, where his father worked as an electrician and sweet seller.
Shortly after settling in Toronto, they started a family, with Daniel being born five years after his older brother. From a very early age, Daniel cherished dreams of forging a professional snooker career, and by the age of 16, he was often seen in pool halls, where he hustled, bet on games and played cards, having learned to play poker a year earlier.
